 The Approach

At Broadstairs English Centre we offer English courses for teachers in employed in primary, secondary and higher education. All methodology is taught through lessons in which teachers take on the role the student. This makes the training enjoyable and is more effective as teachers experience the benefits of newly-presented ideas. Most of the material we use has been written by our Head of Teacher Training or Director of Studies and you can expect up-to-date texts and a variety of media in the classroom. We focus on modern natural usage and can tailor our course to fit the needs and interests of each group of teachers. What you will take away is a large amount of practical material and ideas to use in your teaching environment. You can also expect us to keep in touch and provide you with links to new ideas and resources after your stay in Broadstairs.

The Trainer

Chris McDermott, our Head of Teacher Training, has over 30 years’ experience working with teachers from all over the world. He is a published author of EFL coursebooks and has run seminars in more than 10 European countries. He has also been the coordinator for the Trinity College London Certificate and Diploma TESOL courses, and over the years has spoken at several major British Council conferences. Chris writes all the material for his courses, ensuring the content is up-to-date, interesting and appropriate for the group. The balance of language practice and methodology is also taken into consideration.
