Broadstairs town is a beautiful, traditional seaside town on the south-east coast of England. Situated 80 mins from London, 35 mins from Dover ferry port and 45 mins from Ashford Internationl Eurostar terminal, our location is very accessible from the continent and an ideal place to learn English in England (see our travel page).

Recently voted the second best coastal town in Britain, Broadstairs is famous for its fantastic beaches and has a lot of great activities to offer, allowing you to experience local life and culture.

Canterbury

Broadstairs is also only 35 mins from the historical city of Canterbury. With its impressive cathedral, lovely architecture and great shopping , a visit to this city is a must!

Dover

Dover is also only 35 mins from Broadstairs. Popular with tourists for its famous castle, secret wartime tunnels and famous White Cliffs , students enjoy visiting Dover Castle  for its views and history (see our social activities page).

Famous residents and plenty of character…

Broadstairs offers something for everyone. Not only are there beautiful, sandy beaches surrounding the town, but also glorious Georgian houses, traditional pubs and fantastic cuisine. Edward Heath, an ex-Prime Minister, often enjoyed a drink in one of the local pubs.

The town is famous for its culture and festivities.  The Dickens Festival celebrates Charles Dickens’ literature and connection with the town. Folk Week in August attracts thousands of visitors who want to enjoy great folk music and the many attractions during the week (see our events page).

It is for these reasons as well as the area’s picturesque coastline that Broadstairs is becoming more and more popular with students who want to study English in England in a friendly seaside town.

Throughout the town, there are quaint gift shops and boutiques where you can pick up souvenirs for friends and family. Just 10 minutes from Broadstairs is Westwood Cross. This shopping centre provides great shops and department stores for those shopaholics who want to learn English in England!
